Bread & Butter Studio provides expert, bespoke & archival photo scanning services designed to preserve important photographic collections and convert physical images into high-quality digital files. Our process is ideal for photographers, artists, businesses and organisations looking to protect valuable photographs while making them easier to store, share and reproduce.
Using specialist scanning equipment and careful handling techniques, we capture the detail, texture and character of original photographs, negatives and various film materials. Working regularly with 35mm, 6x7 and 5x4 negatives, we ensure images made on analogue film are digitised to the highest possible standard so that no information is lost in the process. Using a Hasselblad Imacon Flextight film scanner we’re able to produce 16bit scans at exceptional quality for both colour and black & white negatives as well as transparencies.
Each project is approached with attention to accuracy, ensuring digital files are suitable for professional use, printing and long-term preservation. As standard for all our clients, we provide a Hasselblad 3f file, which reduces the need to repeatedly handle original material.
For any printed material above A4 we’re able to produce photographic reproductions using a Nikon D810 or Canon R5 and a Kaiser copy stand. Our archival photo scanning service helps clients safeguard important imagery while creating a reliable digital archive. Whether you have historic photographs, creative projects or business collections, we provide a professional solution tailored to your needs.

We’re very happy to accept scan jobs via post, and recommend that negatives are sent by either Royal Mail Recorded or Royal Mail Special Delivery. For larger, more sensitive jobs, we’re equally happy to travel.
